What does this mean? Can we be able to claim points for education if our alma mater belongs to the list?

hi psychoboy, as far as i know, degrees awarded by level 1 institutions are recognised as equivalent to an Australian degree.

but as for schools that falls under section 2 and 3... you still need to provide stuffs like GPA, PRC registration, etc. maybe someone can expound on this.
  • Hi Aolee may question lang po ako. Kasi yung university of perpetual help calamba dalawa ang sections. Yung isa sa #39 section 2 and then yung #41 section 3 ang nakalagay. Thanks

Hi guys, ask ko lang kung mayroon sa inyo na may hawak ngayon ng visa 476.
Kung mayroon ka nito, malamang na Engineering graduate ka ng UP.
I just want to ask some questions to those who have this visa. Thanks!

@k_mavs cool ka lang mavs. Ako nga section 3 e. Feu also falls on section 2 too. :) medyo mahirap talaga malaman ung points on educ for schools under section 2 and 3.
  • Does it mean that if your school does not fall in section 1, you will not get points? Will the number of work experience will not be considered here?

@ausie_dream2010 hi aussie_dream, makakakuha nmn but theres no concrete way to determine how they assess or award points for it. Only DIAC officers has the call on that area i guess. But as per the migration agent i contacted, he asked me for other docs like gpa, licenses, and others, i dont know what it is for but i think its a supporting docs to claim for educ points. Sureballs lang daw talaga are those schools that falls under section 1.

there's this article shared by therealaids here

kaya mahirap talaga maintindihan kung panu madedetermine kung mabibigyan ng points o hindi ung educ qualification.
  • I don't think DIAC is correct to consider our school origin in giving points. It does not mean na if you came from expensive school is magandang school na un. Furthermore, it does not mean also na if galing ka sa expensive school is mas magaling ka sa real world. 30% lang matutunan mo sa school 70% sa working experiences mo at abilidad. If you are applying for student visa maybe it's acceptable but skilled visa naman ang aplay natin e. the formula should be education + working experiences regardless of school or better yet just follow the outcome of skills assessment.
  • Sana nga pede tyo magdictate sa DIAC e, kaso we can not do any thing but to take it or to take it.:-(

dont worry i think there's a forumala for it im sure kasi mas maraming schools ang under 2 and 3. kaya lang hindi natin alam, kasi ayaw nila ilabas kung panu talaga nila inaassess at binibigyan ng points ung Educ part, the only best thing we can do is supply them with necessary docs and prove that we are competent people thru work exp :)

Hi Guys looks like I may have the answer to the question about the Education Qualification...

check out this pdf from the immi.gov.au ( http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/points-test.pdf )

medyo malinaw na ng konti ung tungkol sa schools that falls on Section2 and 3, as well as for those people na iba ang degree and current profession

    Educational qualifications
Points can only be awarded for the highest qualification attained. Example: If an applicant is assessed as having completed a Bachelors Degree and a Doctorate Degree, they will only be able to claim points for the Doctorate Degree. The following table outlines the number of points awarded for an applicant’s highest education qualification:

    Points Description of education qualifications
    20 - Doctorate Degree
    15 - At least a Bachelor Degree
10 - Australian Diploma or trade qualification.
10 - Award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation

To claim points for a qualification obtained overseas, the qualification will need to be recognised as being of a standard comparable to the relevant Australian level qualification. Generally, applicants will be able to request an opinion on their qualification claims from the relevant assessing authority when seeking their skills assessment. For further information about this process, applicants should contact the relevant assessing authority.
    See: www.immi.gov.au/asri/a-z.htm

An applicant may also be able to claim points for a qualification not related to their nominated occupation, for example they may hold a trade qualification related to their nominated occupation and an unrelated Bachelor degree. If the assessing authority conducting their skills assessment cannot provide an opinion on the non related qualification, applicants should contact the Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services (VETASSESS). VETASSESS is the national assessing authority for a broad range of management, administration, professional and associate professional occupations.

I think the best thing to do is to contact them. this is quite a new thing, i guess not so many people are aware of it.
