I just like to share my adventure here as a new migrant. I am currently in Sydney for a 2 weeks vacation. I am bound to move in Adelaide this Sunday. I started applying for a job last Monday, I already received 3 job interview invitations in Adelaide for next week. However the fourth caller offered a job in Darwin. The overall package was so great that I cant really believe it. I got torn between Adelaide and Darwin. I have to answer the employer tomorrow because he knows that I am moving in Adelaide this Sunday, and if I say yes I will meet him in their office in Sydney CBD. I am confused, 3 employers waiting in Adelaide while 1 100% sure job offer in Darwin with great package. I am thinking outside my sister's house right now looking at the stars hoping I made the right decision tomorrow...

@sohc Wow! Congrats po. Tama nga ang sabi ng mga forumers nayin dito na nadiyan na sa Oz. Once you've reached Oz, Employment opportunities are so abundant that you don't know which to choose.. :D Godd luck po sa job hunting niyo diyan sa Oz. Sayang nga po at di ako umabot sa quota diyan sa SA. Kaya sa WA regional na lang po punta ko.hehe..

I was surprised that it's already 8:45pm, a new employer rang me again. I have 3 employers in Adelaide waiting while 1 in Darwin. I already have plane tickets to Adelaide this Sunday and a 2BR house waiting. I'll check which one's the best, in case I might fly to Darwin next week (kung san san na ko napapadpad dito down under). Darwin is near Philippines and airfare to PH usually cost $199 though Adelaide for me looks better but airfare to PH is $1000+.

Mas tumatawag ang mga employer once they saw na ang address mo is within their state. Some tips, customized all your cover letter starting in the file name ex: "Cover letter - IT System Engineer, Cubic". From there kita agad nila na customized yung cover letter. Remember we are competing with all other race in Aussie but I'm sure we Fil can keep up. Good luck to all of you!

@sohc Sir, question lang po. Isn't that you are on a 475 visa based on your signature? saan pong regional state kayo nag apply?medyo naguguluhan kasi ako kasi yung 3 job offers mo po is for adelaide and 1 for darwin. di ba po nasa NT yung darwin?

Hi mavs, yes I'm on 475 visa. I only applied in Adelaide, however 1 employer posted an ads in adelaide section but the truth behind the job posting is in Darwin. Darwin is also a regional area. I think sinadya nila magpost sa adelaide section to get possible employees, because it looks like na wala ganu nagaapply in NT. One big reason could be the slow state sponsorship that takes a year.

@soh Ah ok sir. If ever you choose the job in Darwin will your SS in SA be voided? Because di po ba you need to live and work in SA for 2 years based on the Regional State sponsored agreement. Do you think na pwede lumipat ng state as long as nasa regional area din siya? or kelangan mo muna na isponsoran ka muna nung ubang state na kumukuha sayo like NT?
Interested po kasi ako sa issue na to kasi i'll be lodging my 475 visa this March for WA. Sana nga possible yung ganung scenario. :D

Yung 2 years stay sa region na nag-sponsor sayo is not a legal obligation. Sabi nila moral obligation lang daw. You can still live and work in other cities basta informed lang si DIAC or yung region na nag-sponsor sa'yo. :)

Hi! how about when you would be applying for a PR visa? will there be any complications when you are coming from a 475 Regional Sponsored visa?

wala kang legal obligation sa sponsoring state mo basta magpapaalam ka lang, of course state your meritorious reasons, papayagan ka naman nila. About applying for PR, 475 holder is required to comply with 2 yrs residence and 1 year experience in REGIONAL or LOW POPULATED areas. DIAC doesn't mind whether it is adelaide or darwin.

We're here na in Adelaide, we just moved last Sunday from Sydney. Now were on our own, me and my wife. The Darwin offer will be finalized tomorrow or monday. So far this has been a very busy week. Monday/Tuesday - initial interview in Adelaide recruitment/hr. Wednesday/Thursday - interviews direct to the companies, salary disccussion & benefits. Advice sakin ng kasama ko pinoy is to collect and select the best. Somehow I am happy, but a bit sad for my wife because she is having a hard time finding a job. Shes a writer/editor in Phil, she's planning to go back worst case, maiiwan ako dito magisa sa 2 bedroom house, then babalik na lang if we can move na sa Sydney with our relatives there.

With the job opportunities that you have, I'm very sure you can select the best with God's guidance. Pero bakit po nagpa-plan bumalik si wife sa Pilipinas? She may have a hard time looking for a job pero financially if may work ka na, you can support her while she looks for a job.

@sohc.. Congratulations. Nakakatuwa naman ito.. Medyo nacurious ako dito na kung 475 ka na SMP eh pwede ka sa ibang state as long as sa regional or low populated area ka titira?? Nakalagay ba sa immi yan?

Hi guys its been a while. I have chosen Adelaide rather than Darwin. I will resign in 2 weeks, because of another better offer. Meron din isa pang company na will finalize the offer but I gave them until tuesday because this coming Wednesday morning magsisign na ko ulit. Sa mga new migrants dont lose hope, ignore the recession sa news. Believe and you will land what you dream down here.
